Nijisanji is a virtual liver group operated by Anycolor Inc. Its name derives from the concept of "connecting the two-dimensional and three-dimensional worlds," and its first generation of livers began activities on February 8, 2018. Since then, livers have joined across multiple generations, and the group now includes a large number of members. Activities center on live streaming, covering a wide range of content such as chatting, game commentary, and karaoke, while some livers and units also release videos, original songs, and hold live music performances.

At the time of its debut, many virtual YouTubers relied mainly on 3D models and pre-recorded videos; Nijisanji instead emphasized 2D models and live streaming. This approach is said to have influenced many virtual liver groups that emerged afterward. Because individual livers pursue varied streaming styles and music activities, the group has cultivated support from a broad range of fans.
