Nijisanji is a virtual liver group operated by Anycolor Inc. Its first generation began activities in February 2018 as testers for a virtual live streaming app, and the group took clearer shape as a liver group after the second generation debuted the following month. Activities center on live streaming, covering a wide range of content such as chatting, game commentary, and karaoke, while some livers and units also release videos, original songs, and hold live music performances. The group has grown to include roughly 150 livers.

At a time when many virtual YouTubers relied on 3D models and pre-recorded videos, Nijisanji became known for its 2D model, live-streaming-focused approach, which influenced the styles adopted by later virtual YouTubers.
