Iba Rai is a virtual YouTuber affiliated with Nijisanji, a talent agency established in 2018. Nijisanji was founded with the aim of promoting a livestreaming format built around Live2D models, distinct from the widely used 3D model and clip-based approach that had been popular in the industry. Iba Rai's activities are based on this same Live2D livestreaming format.

A defining feature of this format is the ability to interact with viewers in real time through live chat, alongside expressive character animation made possible by Live2D technology. Iba Rai's streams likewise center on this real-time interaction and character expression, elements that make the character a frequent subject of fan-created works.
