Hanasaki Morinaka is a virtual liver belonging to Nijisanji, a virtual liver group operated by Anycolor Inc. Nijisanji began full-scale activity as a liver group in 2018, with its members centering their activity on live streaming using 2D models. Stream content spans a wide range, including chatting, gameplay commentary, and karaoke, while some livers also engage in music-related activities such as video releases, original songs, and live performances.

At a time when 3D models and pre-recorded video content were the dominant format among virtual YouTubers, Nijisanji introduced a style built around 2D models and live streaming, which went on to influence the broader virtual YouTuber scene. This live-streaming-centered approach allows real-time interaction between livers and viewers, and the group's wide variety of content—from casual talk to gaming and singing—has drawn a broad audience of supporters.
